This is the End

My only friend, the end....The end of this trip to Antarctica.....and the begining of a new trip...the real trip...a trip for the ages!
The time has come to fly out, thaw out, and chill out. I am on the flight manifest for tommorrow...what a beautiful sight! All the end of the season work is done, all the vessels are on there way back to the world, and everyone here is anxious for the next thing. The next thing is different for everybody...some people here still have 2 more months of work for the extended season, others haven't even reached their half way point, the winter-overs, and then there are the ones who watch everybody else leave, knowing they will follow in a few days. It's interesting to see how people begin to act as the end draws near. Excitment and anticipation fill the halls as people dream up some pretty amazing travel plans. Most will spend some time in New Zealand or Australia, then fly somwhere else for awhile. Most will incorrporate some sort of island chillin' or backpacking or sea kayaking or whatever they are into. One guy plans to swim from island to island amongst sharks and rip tides, towing a small dingy full of his food and gear...at least that's what he told me....yeah...from the guy who probably won't make it! I am excited to explore the South Island of New Zealand and do some rafting and hiking.
I've decided to keep this blog, so stop by periodically for an update on the Corn!
It's been fun and a good run down here....hope you've all enjoyed it! Peace, Corn
