Ice!

Yes well here I am again at McMurdo Station. I look around and it seems as though I never left. Some of the people who stayed over the winter are still around and looking very happy to see other people as also looking a bit pale. I was hoping for a delay in Christchurch, but I ended up making it down on the first try, unlike most folks this year who were in CHC for more than a week! Still, I managed to get all my errands done in town, walk around the botanical gardens, store my river gear, and then got a special look into kiwi life over at my buddy Charles' house. Although really, I prefer to call him CharrDog because he earned it out on the Tatshenshini this year! A great family I hope to visit again next year after the ice.
When I first arrived, I felt totally excited and ready for anything.....then I got my room assignment and it was 4 deep in 155.(Four dudes in a small room in the main party dorm). I thought I would just head on back out to the airstrip and wait for the next flight out, all the while, flashing back to last years nightmare. BUT. I toughed it out for two nights and slept very little, got familar with the Carp Shop, went to a party hosted by the fuelies, and today, after talking to housing, I am all moved into dorm 201 with only one other roomate who seem pretty mellow. A complete flip in my attitude towards this season. I also said yes today to going into a field camp up on the high polar plateau called AGAP....for 3-4 weeks! As they say...."It's ON now!"
That's all folks....photos next time!
