Well, This summer has been in full warp speed and here it is half -way thru the "Week of Jerry". RIP Jer-Bear! A time to reflect on the people and places and times that helped to form who I've become........wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China.
So, After 2 amazing trips up into the Arctic Circle and down the Kongakut River, seeing thousands of Caribou, wolves moose, bear, falcons, and even a lynx....I am back in the Southeast to my home river...the Tatshenshini. This place never ceases to amaze me and this last trip I just got off w/ my good buddy Liam was a fine example of playing the weather game and staying in the blue holes! I was able to get a new perspective on this trip by sitting in the back of the boat and teaching my new Kiwi friend, Shaun Norman ,how to row a big braided river. A test of patience at times and a complete delight at others....it was a great trip!
I'm now in Juneau trying to get alot of medical/dental paperwork and checkups finished in order to go back down to the ICE. I am heading back down as a Carpenter Apprentice and excited about it! The old sea dog song "Off to sea once more" keeps playing over in my head ....except it's "Off to the Ice Once More".
Well, one more Tat trip in a couple weeks, then a mellow break for the Fall, then back at it!
Be well everyone and don't forget to "Shake it up now, Sugaree!"
